SAFCAB honestly started out as "sort of" a joke. Two friends (the "Doug Co-Prez's") had each been repeating a cycle of returning to a bad situation that was unhealthy for each of them. Together with another friend ("Suzy Q"), they used each other as a support system to make sure that "the Doug's" did not repeat what they had done so many times before...give their CAB's yet another chance, only to have the same bad, negative result be repeated again and again.
SAFCAB started as three friends, supporting each other, being there for each other and very simply helping each other "Stay Away From" previous bad choices. As time passed, "The Doug's" realized the importance of SAFCAB in each of their lives. They began to realize just how important this was, not only to them, but how it could help so many others that were in similar situations. Since its inception, many, many friends have called on both the "Doug's" as one of their support members. The support system has grown and evolved with others and branched out to build stronger friendships full of support and love for each other.
The long term vision of SAFCAB is to hold fundraisers to support victims of domestic violence, maybe even shelters and a SAFCAB hotline. The possibilities for helping others is endless, because, unfortunately, this problem seems endless. But maybe, just maybe, one day, there can be an end if we all remember to SAFCAB 4EVER!!!
